GiftCheck is a personal app for managing gift cards. This document explains what data we collect, why, and what rights you have over it.
Your card details (numbers, balances) are stored locally on your device by default, and are not sent to a server.
If you enable cloud backup (Ultra subscription), your card details are encrypted and stored on a secure server to sync across devices.
A card you delete is kept in a bin on your device for 90 days so you can restore it, and is then permanently deleted; you can also delete it permanently sooner from within the app. If you enabled cloud backup, deleted cards in the bin are also kept in the encrypted backup until the end of that period. Deleting your cloud backup account or deleting the app also deletes them.
Your subscription status (Free / Plus / Ultra) is always stored on the server, to verify purchases with the app store.
Purchases (Plus/Ultra) require an account (sign-in with Google or email) so they can be restored on a new device or after a reinstall. A record of the purchase (an internal identifier and the product, with no name or email) is kept after the account is deleted, to allow restoring it and to prevent abuse.
The first time you open the app, we ask for your name and phone number (for personalization and auto-filling balance checks), and an optional email if you agree to receive updates. These details are stored on a server, not just on your device. You can view, update, or remove them anytime via Settings -> My Info in the app.
SMS scanning and connecting Gmail (read-only) are available in the app, at your initiation, solely to find gift cards — message/email content is never sent to or stored on our server.
The app may send push notifications via broadcast channels that don't identify you personally in the sending process, based on your plan and your consent to updates.
We take security measures to protect your information, including encrypting card data in cloud backup.
The app relies on external service providers for cloud storage and data, user authentication, sending notifications, and displaying ads. These providers are not authorized to use the information for their own purposes.
We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
The static pages of this website (what you're reading now) do not use cookies.
The app itself uses analytics and crash-detection tools to give you the best possible experience, plus an advertising identifier to show ads to free-tier users — statistical data only, never linked to your name, phone number, or email.
You can delete your registration details (name, phone, email, consent) at any time via Settings -> "Delete my registration data" in the app — available to all users. Deleting the app deletes your local data, including your cards; deleting your cloud backup account (for Ultra users) also deletes your cloud data and registration details.
This policy may be updated from time to time; we recommend checking it occasionally.
